Who We Are
Welcome to Burnfoot Church, a welcoming and vibrant Christian community at the heart of the Burnfoot Housing Estate in Hawick—the largest estate in the Scottish Borders. For over seventy years, our church has stood as a beacon of faith, hope, and love, serving generations of local families and individuals from all walks of life. Established as the estate itself took shape on the grounds of the former Burnfoot and Burnhead farms, our congregation has grown alongside the community, providing a spiritual home grounded in Scotland’s rich Christian heritage while embracing new expressions of faith.
Burnfoot is a thriving and diverse area, and we are privileged to be part of its story. Our church family is made up of people of all ages and backgrounds, united by our commitment to following Jesus Christ and sharing His love with those around us. We cherish our traditions but are also open to fresh ways of worship, ensuring everyone feels welcome and valued—whether you have been with us for years or are exploring faith for the first time.
Our Mission
At Burnfoot Church, our purpose is simple yet profound: to grow in faith, nurture one another, and serve our local community in Christ’s name. We seek to be a place where faith is deepened through meaningful worship and prayer, where friendships are formed and strengthened through fellowship, and where lives are transformed through acts of service and compassion. We are committed to building a church family where everyone can flourish and discover their unique gifts and purpose.
We are inspired by our history, including everyone who has contributed and served in getting our church to where it is today, and look forward with hope and expectation. Supported by our leadership team and Interim Moderator, we continue to prayerfully seek God’s guidance for our future, confident that He has a plan for our church and community.
Community Engagement
Our calling extends far beyond Sunday worship. We are passionate about serving our parish and supporting the wider Burnfoot community. This commitment is reflected in our outreach projects and activities designed to nurture both our congregation and those who live in Burnfoot.
Burnfoot is the largest housing estate within the Scottish Borders area, with a large, diverse and vibrant population of approx. 3,000. It is a bustling and enterprising estate with a strong sense of community. We work with local agencies and organisations to help address real needs and build strong community ties. Whether through Special events or just everyday acts of kindness, we aim to make a positive difference in the lives of those around us.
Our vision is for Burnfoot Church to be a place where everyone feels they belong, have opportunities to grow, and are encouraged to participate in the life and mission of the Church and Community.
