About Us We are living, working, worshiping, serving and
ministering in the Burnfoot community of Hawick, in the Scottish Borders, and are part of the Church of Scotland. We believe under God, that people will have an overwhelming sense of His presence as we join together in praise and prayer to the one and only true God - so Church will always be full. We
will be, through the Holy Spirit, a committed and cheerful people, giving of our time, talents and money, humbly and willingly
in the love and service of others. We will be an accepting people, recognising all God's gifts and people with thanksgiving. We recognise we have been chosen by God and empowered to serve. We all have potential and should use all our gifts. Our Minister
Our minister is Charles Finnie, and he has been here since
1997. “Doing Something Great In 2012”This year is a year when I believe that God wants us to be involved in doing something great. We live in a society where people desire to do great things but sometimes never see the benefit or reward of the great things which they have done. Sometimes we forget that God is great, and that He does great things. Whether we are in Church or not in Church, whether we come to Church regularly, or are regular at Christmas and baptisms, weddings and funerals, we forget that God is great and that He does great things. And because we forget, we then do not expect God to do great things. We do not expect God to do great things in Church when we gather together. We do not expect God to do great things when we worship Him. We do not expect God to do great things when we are out on the streets. But God has always done great things. The creation of the world, is a great thing. The leading of the people of Israel, through all kinds of rejection and opposition, is a great thing. The birth of His son, is a great thing. The life of His son, is a great thing. The death and resurrection of His son, is a great thing. The empowering of the disciples on the day of Pentecost, is a great thing. The history of the Church is full of the great things that God has done. |
